PV1. Valencia Film Archive *FULLY BOOKED*

The Valencian Film Library, established by decree of the Generalitat Valenciana in January 1985, is dedicated to the study, classification, cataloging, and preservation of Valencian audiovisual heritage. Officially integrated into the Valencian Institute of Performing Arts, Cinematography and Music (IVAECM) in December 1986, the Film Library has grown into a cornerstone of cinematic culture under the initial direction of Carmen Alborch Bataller and the visionary design of Ricardo Muñoz Suay. Its headquarters, located in the historic Rialto building in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento of Valencia, marks the culmination of its founding stage in 1988.

Before its formal establishment, the extension of the Spanish Film Library in Valencia, chaired by Luis García Berlanga, focused primarily on exhibiting film cycles since the late seventies. Today, the Valencian Film Library excels in the recovery, restoration, cataloging, and conservation of cinematographic and audiovisual materials.

The Film Library offers a rich program of regular screenings throughout the year in Valencia, Castellón, and Alicante, and organizes the popular Summer Film Library. It hosts various educational initiatives, including courses, seminars, workshops, and screenings tailored to all levels of the educational system. Additionally, it publishes the esteemed magazine "Archivos de la Filmoteca" along with other significant publications. The Documentation Center (located on Doctor García Brustenga Street, 3) provides library and video library consultation and loan services.

The Institut Valencià de Cultura’s audiovisual collections comprise over 35,000 titles, encompassing a vast array of Valencian, Spanish, and international films from all eras, many of which hold immense historical and cultural significance. Since 1995, the Generalitat Valenciana Film Library has proudly been a full member of the International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF).
